Word Search

Find the hidden words, drag across them, and cross them off the list. This board mixes words from 9 everyday themes; press New puzzle for another one, or pick a theme below. Every word appears exactly once: the generator checks every direction after filling in the letters, so you never find a second copy that doesn't count.

How to play

Every word in the list is hidden in the grid, in a straight line.
Drag across a word from its first letter to its last. On a phone you can also tap the first letter, then the last.
Found words stay highlighted and are crossed off the list. Find them all to finish.
Easy puzzles only run left to right and top to bottom. Medium adds diagonals. Hard runs in all eight directions, backwards too.

Is it free?

Yes. No account and no download. The site may show ads on some pages.

Does my game save?

Yes, in this browser. Close the tab and your found words are still there when you come back to the same puzzle.

How do I select a word on a phone?

Drag your finger along it. If dragging is awkward, tap the first letter (it gets a ring), then tap the last letter.

Can I print these?

Yes. The printable word search page makes a sheet at any level, with an answer key on a second page.

Can I make one with my own words?

Yes. Type up to 20 words (names work too) and a message, and you get a link to send. Whoever opens it plays your puzzle and sees your message at the end.

Does every word appear only once?

Yes. After the letters are filled in, every word is checked in all eight directions; a board where a word shows up twice is thrown away.
