2048 CupcakesMerge the cupcakes, bake the crown
No moves left
Swipe on the board, or use the arrow keys (WASD works too). Your game saves itself after every move.
Your bakery
Cupcakes you have made so far. Merge two of the same to bake the next one.
How to play 2048 Cupcakes
- Swipe up, down, left or right. Every cupcake on the tray slides as far as it can go that way.
- When two identical cupcakes bump into each other, they bake into the next cupcake up the ladder, and its number is added to your score.
- After each move a new vanilla cupcake (2) appears in an empty spot, or now and then a chocolate one (4).
- Make the golden crown cupcake, the 2048, to win. The game ends when the tray is full and no two neighbours match.
The cupcake ladder
Each cupcake is worth twice the one before it. Here is the order, from the first vanilla to the crown and past it:
- 2Vanilla
- 4Chocolate
- 8Strawberry
- 16Mint chip
- 32Blueberry
- 64Lemon
- 128Sprinkle party
- 256Cherry
- 512Double chocolate
- 1024Red velvet
- 2048Golden crown
- 4096Galaxy
Two golden crown cupcakes make a 4096, the galaxy cupcake. Everything above that is drawn as a galaxy too; the number in the corner says which one it is.
How to reach the 2048 cupcake
- Pick a corner and keep your biggest cupcake in it. Most players use a bottom corner and swipe mostly down and left (or down and right).
- Keep the edge row full. If the row along your corner has no gaps, a sideways swipe cannot pull the big cupcake out of place.
- Avoid the fourth direction. With a bottom corner, that is up. Use it only when nothing else moves, then swipe straight back down.
- Line the big ones up. Keep 256 next to 512 next to 1024 along the edge, each waiting for its twin, so one merge sets off the next.
- Merge small cupcakes early. A tray full of lonely 2s and 4s in different corners is how most games end.
- Slow down near the top. Past 512 one careless swipe can bury a cupcake behind a row of small ones. Look before each move; there is no timer.
Questions
Is 2048 Cupcakes free?
Yes. It runs in your browser: no download, no account. The site may show ads on this page.
Does my game save?
Every move is saved in this browser, so you can close the tab and carry on later. Your best score and the cupcakes you have baked are kept too. Transfer progress, at the bottom of the page, moves them to another phone or computer.
Can I undo a move?
One move, yes. Undo takes back your last swipe, including the one that ended the game. It keeps only one step, so it fixes a slip of the finger, not a plan that went wrong ten moves ago.
What happens after the 2048 cupcake?
You get a message and can keep going. Next comes the 4096 galaxy cupcake, then 8192 and so on; the number in the corner tells them apart. On a 4×4 board the largest tile possible is 131,072.
Who made 2048?
Gabriele Cirulli made the original 2048 in 2014 and published it as open source. Cupcake versions appeared soon after. The game code and the cupcakes on this page are our own work.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Swipe on the board; the page does not scroll while your finger is on it. After your first visit it also works offline, and you can add it to your home screen like an app.
